BUILD - Connect - Expand
Yeogi Jeogi is an abstract knitting game. You have to build connections and fill an ever procedurally growing field with mesmerizing patterns.

PROJECT INFORMATION

Yeogi Jeogi is a relaxing game that doesn't pressure the player. It can be played very casually but also offers room for more strategical play when optimizing the number of fields that players fill with moving tiles.

WORKFLOW EXAMPLES
Analog prototyping
We started with some analog prototyping and focused on finding an abstract system. Even later in the development process we liked to reuse our prototype materials to discuss aspects of the game.

Playtesting
We observed the player's actions, reactions and wrote down their questions. On the Hive Five event we even tried out a feedback paper.

Festivals & showcases
We had the chance to showcase our game at Talk & Play in Berlin, MB21 Festival in Dresden and Next Level Festival in Essen. Thank you to the people who made this possible.

In development for mobile
We are currently porting the game on mobile devices and plan to release it on the Apple App Store.

MY EXPERIENCE & LEARNINGS
The positives
Yeogi Jeogi was my first student project and I had a great time developing it. There was a great atmosphere in the team as well as a nice feedback culture. During this project I learned about abstracting systems and focusing on rules. I also learned how important a good presentation is.
I dedicated a lot of time in polishing and designing feedbacks. And last but not least the project gave a boost to my programming skills and I started to work with Git.
The negatives
It was cool to go for something completely abstract and I think it really fits to Yeogi Jeogi as a product. But it revealed a lot of challenges when it comes to communicating how the game works. Even thought we have a tutorial, a lot of game elements are often confusing for the players.
Another thing that has to be improved is the games difficulty curve. Players are very focused and motivated, but they mostly give up after the game has become too challenging.
The future of Yeogi Jeogi
I love this project. So many people have played the game already, during showcases or on festivals and I am honored to see people enjoy playing it.
We often got the feedback that Yeogi Jeogi has the appeal of a beautiful mobile game and that people would like to play it on mobile devices. As we all wanted to experience what it means to publish a game, we are trying this out with Yeogi Jeogi.
